The first five colored characters
MAERYS (Maryss’ character)

Age: 24
Occupation: Knight of Daytharia
Abilities/Skills: Flying, swordsmanship, able to see spirits, great powers related to light and healing, super strength

Maerys lives in a small village called Oleth, near the kingdom of Daytharia’s capital, Pheleore, with her father Loryan, a veteran in the knighthood and sword instructor, and two other men and a woman he adopted after the loss of their parents during war: Jacob, a mage apprentice, Cristoff, also a knight as her and Claire, the maid of the house. Maerys’ mother, Vaena was a knight as Loryan and died on the battlefield giving her life for her husband when their daughter was only two years old. Ever since then, Loryan had given her all the love and education he could. Maerys was born with two unusual powers: the one to heal any disease and injury and the other to see spirits of any sort. A fallen angel called Dametheas lived with them and with him, Maerys developped a strong bond, but they had to be separated by a cruel act of fate.

Maerys is a person whose personality is built on trust, friendship and loyalty. She’s always present for the ones in need and cannot stand injustice when seen. As she tries to uphold a leading figure, there are times when she faces doubts, but quickly overcomes them with the support of her friends. She shares a long history of rivalry with a certain demon of the Underworld, Niflheim. They have battled countless times with no victors in sight since eons but a tremendous secret regarding the both of them is kept by Odin only, the all-father god of Asgard: a secret about their true origins.

ETHEREY (Teresa’s character)

Age: 24
Occupation: Wanderer/Adventurer
Abilities/Skills: Swordsmanship, flying, able to see spirits, great level of pyro-manipulation, super strength

Among the Valkyries sent on Midgard, Etherey was the first one to notice that something was wrong on the world of mortals. Being able to see any sort of spirits like Maerys, her wandering quest started when she saw, a few years ago, the soul of a fallen warrior ripped and taken away by a foul and demonic beast instead of usually being warmly carried away by a battle-maiden. During her journey, she stumbles on and reunites with Maerys while they were investigating on the same matter.

Etherey is Maerys’ best friend and best supporter in dark times. She is very positive and faithful towards her at a point of using her own life as her shield. Although confident about the strength and abilities she possesses, she tends to be a hot-headed flame rushing into thick situations without thinking properly. Etherey may be an untamed flame of will, but never will she hesitates to do rash actions in order to protect her valkyrian sisters.

ZAYALEN (Rino’s character)

Age: 25
Occupation: Ninja & personal guard of Seyro Ryazan, imperial prince of the Ryazan Empire.
Abilities/Skills: Swordsmanship, able to see spirits, can handle a variety of weapons, flying, super strength, master of the shadow arts (shadow duplication, element manipulation of fire, water, earth, wind and thunder)

Loyalty, honor and respect: these are three words that she represents by living. Being just a child, Zayalen was instructed and taught the way of the ninja to serve and defend the Ryazan Empire. As she grew up, her spectacular deeds were noticed and praised by the highest authority, Emperor Kayro Ryazan. Having faith in her skills, he appointed her to his son’s personal protection, Seyro, heir to the throne. Ever since then, these two were always closed to each other, developing a strong bond of friendship, a bond that attracted the hate and jealousy of Seyro’s older sister, Seya.

Zayalen (called “Zaya” by her close ones) is a proud warrior who is the perfect living emblem of respect, honor and loyalty. She is very reliable and in times of danger and crisis, she knows how to stay calm and come up with a plan. Being trained to the way of the ninja, she hardly shows her emotions, but a soft smile can sometime be shown to her lips. She can be very wise towards others and despite her good sense of leadership, she rather let that task to Maerys as she believes in her good judgment and supports her the best way she can.

JULIEL (Jules’ character)

Age: 29
Occupation: Pirate Lord
Abilities/Skills: Swordsmanship, able to see spirits, flying, great superhuman strength, great sense of orientation and directions.

The ones closed to her call her by the name of Juliel, but the entire world of Midgard knows her under the enigmatic name of “Lady Jules,” the world’s most famous and fearsome pirate lord. She is the head of an entire pirate fleet and her fellow pirates see her as an elder sister, some even as a mother. Despite being strict and highly respected as captain, her attitude and personality are very laid-back and easy-going.

Julian, mostly known as Captain “Iron” Jules, was the previous captain and her father. A tragedy befell her life when her father was captured and to be executed. Before the end of his life, he shouted with vigor and pride in his last words, “As I die now, my legacy lives on! LONG LIVE CAPTAIN LADY JULES!!” Since then, she became Captain of the Jules Pirates and a fearsome pirate lord to be reckoned with.

She has a very cool attitude and is quite laid-back, something she took from her father, so as the habit of holding alcohol pretty well. She cares a lot about her crew members as they are her family with which she grew up with, especially a boy named Jay, found as an infant in the arm of his lifeless mother: he considers Juliel as his real mother, despite knowing the truth about this biological one. Like her, Jay mysteriously has superhuman strength, something that remains unexplained. After getting her memories back from defeating a monster sent from Asgard, she temporarily leave her crew and let her lieutenants and her “son” Jay take things in charge in her absence.

LEYLANDIA (Lindsey’s character)

Age: 27
Occupation: Wandering Samaritan
Abilities/Skills: Swordsmanship, able to see spirits, flying, super strength, can handle different type of weapons, can manipulate souls & acquire their skills

Leylandia is a woman of peaceful nature. Her childhood was very hard as being able to see spirits of any sorts, she had gained the hate and distrust of the entire village she lived in blaming her for its misfortune and misery that has stricken its lands ever since her birth as its people though of her as a demon in disguise. Nonetheless, being raised by loving parents made Leylandia not care at all of the backstabbing talk of the villagers to whom she never showed a smile. Her only friends were her father and mother and the spirits with which she could talk to.

As the months went by, the village became even poorer and more stricken by ill fate and its inhabitants all pressured the mayor to take action: kill the one they call “demon child.” A furious mob was in front of the little family’s home wanting her dead. While her parents pleaded for her life to be spared, Leylandia proposed to the mayor her life willingly in exchange of her parents' safety. The chief agreed as he was surprised of Leylandia’s decision, just as everyone else. As he was about to execute her, he couldn’t submit to the act, especially on an innocent girl blamed for the village’s problems since birth. An angry villager pushed the chief aside and went to cast his own sword on the little girl, but Leylandia’s mother was the one to take the blow to protect her daughter. The husband furious with rage went after his wife’s murderer only to swiftly meet the same fate. The chief killed the mad man for his useless crimes and a sobbing sound of cries and tears came from the newly orphan, holding her mother bathing in her own blood and shedding tears as she was spending her last moment giving love through her last words to her daughter.

As her mother silenced in death, the young child cried tears of pain and sorrow to a point that her valkyrian powers were triggered, blinding the entire village with pure light. Once faded away, it was reborn with beauty and brightness, fertile grounds and flourishing water. Even the man who had taken the life of Leylandia’s parents was brought to life. But mysteriously, Leylandia and her parents were gone to a faraway hill where the young girl had wings spread out and her parents were back to life thanks to their daughter’s light. Reunited once more, they decided to start over as Leylandia learned to control her powers to help people, earning the name of “Soul whisperer” due to her ability to not only talk with spirits but also harness their powers. She was using her powers for good and was praised and worshipped as a hero, and yet, as she’d usually set her eyes on the endless sky, she felt her true purpose was still somewhere to be found.

Leylandia’s personality is mostly based on her very serene attitude. She hardly lets her emotions get the best of her and also shows them rarely; if not, a soft smile. Growing up with wandering spirits helped her become a strong person physically and mentally as she masters a great variety of weapons and possesses a pacific wisdom that can help her valkyrian comrades when discord lurks around it. She's an adept of nature, loves moments of peace and enjoys reading a good book under a nice weather. In battle, she happens to be a very technician warrior with spirits at her disposal. Axandris, the youngest among the group of Valkyries, sees her as a role model and Leylandia considers herself as an older sister to her.

SWEEEEETTT! seriously, i might have said this over and over again.. but i really can't wait till everything comes together (graphics and story) its gonna be soooo sick!!!! you're doing a wondeful job, Greg!!!! More power to you... and Freak the Dream !!!

Greetings people! Here is the updates for this week of the 8 VALKYRIES project!

CHAPTER VII
Chapter VII is completed! Enough said! 'Hopefully I keep track of that great progression!

CHANGE OF NARRATOR
So far in the story, the character of Maerys has been the narrator of the story. Now, starting chapter VIII, it will change to another one: Etherey. And as the story goes on, the narrator will change, chapters from chapters

VALKYRIE KAYLETH
I've gotten the lineart of Valkyrie Kayleth this week. The coloring process should start soon! I can't wait!
